DIGITAL DIRECT TO GARMENT PRINTING
Direct to garment printing, or DTG, is a cutting edge technology that allows you to get exactly what you want in a t-shirt, without the drawbacks of traditional screen printing. DTG gives you a full color printing for a fraction of the cost and with no minimum order requirements. This means you can get just one shirt, printed in full color, in just a few minutes. Just walk in with your artwork and you can walk out with a custom shirt!
DTG is perfect for small orders since there is no minimum order requirement. Have a bridal shower, birthday party, or any other small event that you want to make extra special with custom shirts? DTG is just what you need. Or maybe you’re a small business that needs the flexibility to order just the garments you need? DTG can make that happen. Is the artwork that you want on your shirts highly detailed, does it use a lot of colors or special effects? That can be extremely expensive to screen print, but you can get as many colors as you want for one low price with DTG.
There are a few limitations though. DTG cannot print white ink, so we can’t use it on dark colored garments like black or navy blue. We also cannot print anything lighter than the color of the garment we are printing on. Think about running a piece of colored paper through your ink jet printer at home, all the colors you print out are going to be affected by the color of the paper you are printing on. The DTG process works in much the same way. Larger DTG orders usually have a turnaround time of one week, but smaller orders and single custom garments can often be done while you wait.
Since the process is a full color digital print we can print all kinds of things on your garments. Hand drawn artwork? No problem. Full color photographs? Bring it on. If you bring in artwork on disk, or even a high quality print 8.5” x 11” or smaller, we can make it a shirt! Don’t have artwork? Don’t worry! Our on staff graphic designer can help you out with that.
TRADITIONAL SCREEN PRINTING
Of course, if DTG is not going to work for your project we can always use the reliable standard of traditional screen printing. Screen printing uses plastisol inks to print on virtually any type of material. This traditional method is the only way to print on dark garments like black or navy blue, since it uses white ink as a base for the prints.
Screen printing is suited best for larger orders, since there is a minimum order requirement of 48 garments, and with orders over 200 pieces the cost is competitive with DTG. Do you need to print on black shirts? Go with screen printing. Interested in specialty inks like puff ink, glitter, or neon? Screen printing is the only way to go. Want to print on nylon or other specialty materials? You want screen printing.
There are, however, some costs involved with screen printing. Each color of ink in your design requires a separate screen, and each screen has an associated cost. There is also usually a one time fee to separate your artwork in preparation for making the screens. Due to the nature of the equipment used for the screen printing process there is a minimum order requirement of 48 pieces. The turnaround time for screen printed orders is usually two weeks.
Screen printing orders require any artwork to be in a vector graphics format, using a program such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. If your artwork is not in the required format, or if you don’t have any artwork at all, our on staff graphic designer can help you!
EMBROIDERY SERVICES
The Shirt Shop can also handle all your embroidery needs. We do high quality, high stitch count embroidery on hats, jackets, golf shirts… you name it! Our minimum order for embroidery orders is one dozen pieces, and the turnaround time is two weeks.
Embroidery needs to turn your artwork into a “tape” that converts the shape into a pattern of stitches. If you already have an embroidery tape just bring it in, but if you don’t we will be happy to digitize your artwork for a small fee. No digitization is necessary for text only embroidery.
GRAPHIC DESIGN
Do you need help with your artwork? Does your logo need a lift? Do you have a great idea for a shirt, but don’t know how to make it happen? Our on staff graphic designer can help! The Shirt Shop offers competitively priced graphic design services to all of our customers, whether you need one shirt or one thousand.
Just come in with your ideas, sketches or prints and we can turn them into an amazing design. You can also schedule a sit down session with our designer, and see your artwork come to life right in front of you. PRICING INFORMATION
You might have noticed that there aren’t any prices in this section. That’s because with the services that we offer it’s not easy to create a simple price list that covers everything. The price of your garments will vary depending on several factors. What kind of garment do you need? What quality? What color? What sizes? Do you need DTG or screen printing? How many locations are you printing? All these questions and more need to be answered before we can give you an accurate quote on your order. The most important question is “How many do you want?”. The more garments you order, the less they will cost per garment. To get all the pricing information you need just contact us.
